- Service — any watch repair, servicing, or care programme provided by Escaphaus, including but not limited to the Quartz Module Service, Chronograph Mechanism Service, and Collection Care Agreement.
- Client / You — any individual or entity that engages Escaphaus for a Service or uses this website.
- Job Card — the written record created by Escaphaus for each individual watch, documenting condition at intake, scope of work, measurements, and test results.
- Programme — a defined service scope with stated inclusions, turnaround window, and price as described on this website or communicated in writing.
- Agreement — these Terms and Conditions together with any written scope confirmation for a specific Service.
2. Acceptance of Terms
By submitting a contact form on this website, leaving a watch at the workshop for assessment, or confirming a service scope verbally or in writing, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.
These terms apply to all individuals aged 18 or over with legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement. If you are submitting on behalf of a business or estate, you confirm you have authority to do so.
If you do not accept these terms, please do not use our website or submit a watch for service.
3. Service Description
Escaphaus provides independent watch repair and servicing from its workshop in Johor Bahru. The workshop operates three defined programmes:
- Quartz Module Service and Battery Programme — RM 480, 3–5 working days
- Chronograph Mechanism Service — RM 1,640, 14–18 working days
- Collection Care Agreement — RM 4,600 per year, 12 months covering two workshop visits
Services are available to clients visiting the workshop in person. Remote or postal submissions are not offered at this time. Services are available to residents of Malaysia and visitors. All prices are stated in Malaysian Ringgit (RM) and inclusive of applicable taxes.
4. Client Responsibilities
- Provide accurate information about the watch's condition, history, and any known damage when submitting it for assessment.
- Confirm that you are the owner of the watch or have authority from the owner to submit it for service.
- Collect the watch within 30 days of being notified of completion. Storage fees may apply after this period.
- Not submit watches that are the subject of legal proceedings, insurance claims, or ownership disputes without disclosing this to the workshop.
- Use this website lawfully and refrain from submitting false, misleading, or harmful information through the contact form.
5. Intellectual Property
All content on this website — including text, layout, design, and brand elements — is owned by or licensed to Escaphaus. No part of this website may be reproduced, distributed, or used commercially without prior written consent.
Job cards and service records produced by Escaphaus are workshop documents. Clients are entitled to receive a copy of their own job card on request but may not reproduce or publish workshop documentation without consent.
6. Payment Terms
All payments are made in Malaysian Ringgit (RM) at the workshop upon collection of the watch or in advance as agreed. The following terms apply:
- Programme rates are as published and confirmed in the scope statement for each job.
- Any additional work outside the programme scope is quoted separately and requires confirmation before proceeding.
- Payment is due in full upon collection unless a prior arrangement has been made in writing.
- We accept cash and common electronic payment methods. Specific payment options are confirmed at the workshop.
Cancellation and Withdrawal
If you choose not to proceed after a condition assessment has been completed but before bench work has begun, no charge applies. If work has begun and you withdraw, a partial charge reflecting work completed may apply and will be confirmed in writing before collection.
7. Service-Specific Terms
7.1 Scope Confirmation
No programme work begins without the client's confirmation of the scope and cost. Confirmation may be given in person, by phone, or by email. Scope expansions discovered during bench work are communicated before proceeding.
7.2 Turnaround Windows
Each programme has a stated turnaround window. These windows are working-day estimates and are not binding delivery dates. If a timeline change occurs due to part sourcing or unexpected findings, we will contact you before the window closes.
7.3 Collection Care Agreement
The Collection Care Agreement is a 12-month arrangement covering up to two workshop visits. It covers inspection of up to eight watches, gasket renewal on two pieces, a written inventory, and a service calendar. It does not include the cost of full mechanical services if required; these are quoted separately.
7.4 Parts
Parts used in all programmes are either new or tested functional replacements. We do not use client-supplied parts unless agreed in advance. Replaced parts are available for inspection on request during the collection visit.
8. Disclaimers
Watch repair involves technical work on aged or worn components. While we document all findings and apply appropriate procedures, we cannot warrant specific outcomes in all cases. In particular:
- Movement performance after service depends on the condition of components that were not replaced.
- Water resistance cannot be warranted unless a pressure test is specifically included and noted on the job card.
- Vintage or heavily worn calibres may have limitations that cannot be resolved through standard servicing.
- Service interval recommendations are guidance based on observed condition and local climate, not binding predictions.
Information on this website is provided for general informational purposes. It does not constitute professional technical advice for specific watches or collections.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by Malaysian law, Escaphaus's total liability arising from or in connection with a Service shall not exceed the programme fee paid for that specific Service.
We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or special losses, including loss of use of the watch during the service period, unless caused by our negligence or wilful misconduct.
Force majeure events — including natural disasters, supplier failures, or circumstances outside our reasonable control — may affect turnaround windows. We will communicate any such delays promptly.
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify Escaphaus against any claims, losses, or expenses arising from your breach of these terms, including claims arising from your submission of a watch you did not have authority to submit, or from inaccurate information provided about a watch's condition or ownership.
11. Termination
Either party may end a service engagement at any time before bench work begins, with no charge to either party.
For the Collection Care Agreement, either party may withdraw from the arrangement with 30 days' written notice. A pro-rata refund of unused months may be offered at our discretion where the agreement has been substantially performed.
12. Dispute Resolution
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of Malaysia. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Johor Bahru, Malaysia.
We encourage clients to raise any concern directly with us in the first instance. We will make reasonable efforts to resolve disputes informally before any formal process is initiated. Contact us at [email protected].
13. General Provisions
- Entire Agreement: These terms, together with any written scope confirmation, constitute the entire agreement between you and Escaphaus regarding the relevant Service.
- Severability: If any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force.
- Waiver: Failure to enforce any provision at any time does not constitute a waiver of that provision.
- Assignment: You may not assign your rights under these terms without our written consent. Escaphaus may transfer obligations to a successor business.
- Notices: Formal notices may be sent to [email protected] or to our workshop address.
14. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms and Conditions from time to time. The Last Updated date at the top of this page will reflect any revision. Material changes will be noted on the website. Continued use of our services after changes are published constitutes acceptance.
